Yoga Asana Yoga Teacher Training 200h

Well, hello there! Interested in a training program with us?

Wonderful! You have landed at the right place…

Y+ Teacher Training Program has been designed and updated multiple times over the past 8 years with a central focus in mind — BALANCE.

Like all the other programs out there in the industry, we cover the 4 key areas:

  • Physical practice, or known as asana

  • Anatomy + Physiology

  • Philosophy + Humanities

  • Teaching Methodology

How is Y+ Teacher Training Program unique from the rest?

  • Each of the 4 key areas are treated with equal importance. Whilst other programs may gloss over some aspects, we do the reverse - Deep Dive into all aspects about Yoga!

  • The instructors are specialists in their fields. Very rare will you come across a medical doctor, a yoga philosophy student, and a movement specialist teaching in one program!

  • The program is designed in a secular, academic manner so you can be assured that it is rigorous and in-depth!

Don’t take our word for it. Check out what our graduates have to say!

  • Nicholas Chan

Having teachers that provide an in-depth education in anatomy and yoga philosophy in their specialized fields, Yoga+ is definitely the training school I would recommend to complete the 200 hours if you are open to training that focuses on the practice, and how to be a better teacher.

The teachers are a complete joy to be with throughout the journey.

  • Cheryl Eng

Programme is very well-structured and broken down into asana, philosophy, anatomy and teaching portions.

Throughout the course, each portion is weaved into the other portions and helps to give a better understanding and bigger picture of all the different components as a whole.

It was a very fulfilling and valuable experience and I find myself improving much more after having better understanding of anatomy, asana, breathing practices that can be incorporated into the practice on the mat.

Philosophy component was also interesting and thought-provoking, with the materials made digestible and more relatable to students.

  • Marilyn Tan

While there is a structure of the curriculum, there are opportunities for students' creativity and allowing us to practise trial and error of our suggestions.

Hence the learning curve is steep as we learn from our mistakes in an authentic and practical learning environment.

  • Deepa Ramanathan

Excellent and well-structured YTT program run by the knowledgeable and dedicated founders of Yoga+. I did the weekday program and felt my physical practice improve substantially from the beginning to the end of the program.

Beyond their years of asana teaching experience, Bianca's medical training and Suffian's religious studies background give a depth and richness to the anatomy and philosophy portions of the YTT program at Yoga+.

The course includes a well-thought out module on how to teach, to help students formulate and develop their teaching practice. Highly recommend the YTT at Yoga+ to anyone seeking to deepen their practice and/or to understand the philosophical & anatomical basis of yoga.

  • Joy Wang

Overall, I enjoyed the program at Yoga Plus, glad I made friends with both my classmates as well as the teachers - it's a lot of mental and physical work but would highly recommend!

  • Tanvi Murudkar

Wholesome Training program structured to give equal importance to the Asana practice, role of Anatomy and Philosophy of Yoga. I couldn't have asked for a better school to begin my journey into Yoga.

  • Chan Wei Ren

Incredibly detailed, going very in-depth into the different aspects of yoga and how to incorporate them into our teaching.

  • Nicole Ong

I believe Yoga+ to have a high standard of yoga practices/teachings which will strongly equip every graduate to teach proficiently anywhere in the world.

Structure of the program

This newly updated Yoga+ Teacher Training Program is a 24-day HYBRID program comprising 4 Modules. Each module takes 6 days to complete.

  • In Part 1 of the training, you will be introduced to our Yoga+ Dynamic Flow which is a set sequence that covers a wide ranging poses.

Additionally, you will also cover the basic standing yoga poses and how to execute them properly with / without props, a general understanding of muscles and an overview of yoga history spanning across thousands of years.

    Asana: Standing Balancing Series
Anatomy: Muscular System + Terms of Movement
    Philosophy: History of Yoga

  • In Part 2 of the training, you will be encountering a deeper understanding of the human body and exploring the texts that many, if not all, yoga graduates reference. In terms of the asana practice, we dive deep into poses that focuses on strength.

Asana: Warrior Series, Arm Balance + Inversions
Anatomy: Skeletal + Digestive systems in relation to yoga poses
    Philosophy: Understanding Yoga Sutras

  • In part 3 of the training, you can expect more complex poses and knowledge being shared, now that you have established a good foundation.

    Asana:
    Backbends + Seated Poses
    Anatomy:
Respiratory + Cardiovascular systems related to yoga poses
    Philosophy:
    The Human Body + Universe

  • In this final part of the training, you will be learning the last few poses typically used during cool-down period of a yoga class. Additionally you will apply what you have learnt and transform it to teaching practice.

    Asana:
    Reclined poses
    Teaching Methodology:
Frameworks of sequencing + Techniques of cueing

The 90-min asana practice, followed by the deep dive on alignment of yoga poses takes place in person.

Location: Yoga+ Somerset Studio
Time: 8am - 12pm.

Philosophy and anatomy theory takes place online via a series of pre-recorded sessions and live interaction.

Because you will have access to these pre-recorded sessions ahead of time, you get to learn at your own pace and re-visit the materials when you are unclear. Additionally, you can pose questions during the live sessions.

The lead instructors

Leading the Yoga Teacher Training program are our two co-founders, Dr Bianca and Suffian. Both are specialists in the field and will be co-teaching aspects of the Teacher Training Program.

Both of them have been teaching yoga since 2015 and they have seen over 20+ (and counting!) batches of Yoga Teacher Trainings.

Assisting them is Sabrina Jabbar, a long-standing teacher with Yoga+.

  • Growing up, it’s fair to say that Bianca constantly sought to improve people’s lives. As she tinkered with a toy rubber stethoscope, her mother’s white cardigan, a memo “prescription” she knew since then she was to be a doctor.

Dead set on her dreams, she went on to earn her doctorate in medicine at a tender age of 24, having finished with highest honours from an accelerated premedical program in the Philippines and graduating top in her batch.

With her childhood dreams fulfilled, she felt her medical profession ironically took a toll on her. The long arduous 36 hour shifts led her to rethink her life goal.

Bianca’s practice roots from the empowerment that comes with a seamlessly aligned asana. She encourages her students to cultivate peace in an asana through the union of strength flexibility in harmony with the breath.

With her strong medical and anatomical background, she provides a safe space for her students to seek serenity, balance, and refuge.

Radical and even taboo for some, she hung up her coat but never resigned from her drive to make a difference.

She continues to live her dreams, still treating people but now on the mat, clad in tights and a prescription for patience.

  • One of his students describes him as “the most personality in a yoga teacher in Singapore” which would give you a big hint to the engaging and fun group classes that he teaches.

On the the flip side, Suffian is a serious student of yoga history and philosophy, and his heart lies in the study of religion.

After teaching for 4 years, Suffian attained his RYT-300 certification from Radiantly Alive in 2019 under the tutelage of movement master, Carlos Tao. In the same year, he continued his studies, attending summer school in Oxford University reading world religion as well as the inaugural Yoga summer school in SOAS (School of Oriental & African Studies).

All that knowledge that he is constantly acquiring is being translated into unique workshops that he conducts, blending eastern philosophy and history with asana practice.

As a lululemon legacy ambassador and an advocate of mindful living, Suffian uses whatever platforms he can to allow the people around him to search for and grow into the best version of themselves.

Yoga is as much internal growth as it is external.

  • Sabrina will be assisting the Teacher Training program.
